**40253BR** **Extended Job Title:** Business Manager **Position Description:** Manages personnel and budgetary matters for a department or college. Exercises discretion and independent judgment to oversee the activities of staff and the financial processes to ensure fiscal responsibility of department/college. Ensures staff and faculty have the resources to complete their work. Usually serves as a hiring manager and employee service coordinator. **Requisition ID:** 40253BR **Optional Attachments:** Professional/Personal Reference **Travel Required:** None **Major/Essential Functions:** **Support the Department overall to include centers or institutes as needed for the following:** + Financial management includes budget planning, preparation, and analyzing how best to utilize department resources. + Conduct monthly payroll verification and FOP reconciliations. This includes department financials and research grant financial coordination, reconciliation, etc. + Facilitate new faculty startup packages and conduct startup and grant reporting to the college. + Serve as the Employment Services Coordinator and manage the faculty and staff hiring process and employee appointments. + Manage the onboarding and exit process for newly hired staff or faculty. + Conduct Annual Budget Prep process to include FY end and open of operations and financials. + Coordinate Summer Budget and Summer appointments. + Manage SIF fees, including processing fee reports, and ensure fees are appropriately charged and utilized per term. + Conduct/oversee the complete process of the following: budget revisions, cost transfers, job labor(re) distributions, manual check requests, research participant pay, EOPs, purchase orders, procurement card reconciliations, travel applications/vouchers and deposits, etc. + includes TRAVEL PROCESS (how faculty request travel expenses support) + includes PROCUREMENT PROCESS (how faculty request items purchased or things paid for) + Conduct/oversee inventory of supplies and for the department to include labs. + Coordinate annual endowment reporting and review for underutilization. + Coordinate annual space inventory reporting to the college. + Conduct/oversee annual inventory checklist upon request. **Support the Department Faculty & Staff overall to include centers or institutes as needed for the following:** + Assist the Department Chair with tracking office space assignments, coordinating office furniture, moves, key requests, room requests, etc. + Manage faculty and staff records and files. + Manage Quality Control of overall departmental, center, and institute processes. + Coordinate/Approve Leave Requests and review/approve web-time entry for non-exempt staff, hourly student employees, and faculty sick leave as a proxy to the Chair upon request. + Ensure all staff duties are accomplished. + Maintain/oversee the overall departmental structure, including centers and institutes. **Support the Department Chair to include the following:** + Upon request from the Department Chair, Maintain the calendar and apply appointments, holds, and travel plans. + Compose various correspondence and presentation materials. + Conduct/oversee Travel arrangements, including processing travel applications and vouchers. + Upon request, Oversee/organize special events and meetings. + Research, compile, and prepare reports, correspondence, or other information as required by the department and college. + Coordinate and plan personnel appointments from semester to semester, including GPTIs, TAs, RAs, SAs, GAs, and work-study. + Assist the Department Chair with overflow projects as requested. **SCHOLARSHIP/FELLOWSHIP Coordination:** + Conducted/oversee scholarship coordination, assisting the Department's Scholarship Committee with awarding scholarships. This includes coordinating and managing all scholarship resources for the department. + Oversee the entire scholarship process for the department. + Attend the ANNUAL SCHOLARHSIP COORDINATOR meeting each year. + Track graduate students' new recruitment resources. **Other Assigned duties:** + Attend various meetings (take notes) to stay abreast of new processes, changes in TTU policies, etc. CHHS Senior Monthly staff meeting, Procurement Forums, training, etc. + Assist as a backup with greeting visitors, answering requests, and managing phone calls, including work order submissions and maintenance requests. + Serve as or oversee the appointment of Emergency Action Coordinator. The department will provide structure for the governance and support of six-degree programs in Family and Consumer Sciences Education (B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.) and Human Sciences (B.A.A.S., B.S., and M.S.). Additional offerings include a B.S. in Human Sciences/B.S. in Nursing dual degree, two accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree programs, and three undergraduate minors in Biobehavioral Health and Wellness, Extension Education, and Human Sciences in Nursing. Student enrollment is approximately 1,066 undergraduate and 63 graduate students. The new department will have 12 full-time faculty and adjunct faculty who work to accomplish collective goals. The Center for Adolescent Resiliency reflects the College's commitment to engaged scholarship through its interdisciplinary approach to promoting positive youth development. The Center works closely with area schools and community organizations to address the wellness and developmental needs of early and middle adolescents through research-based programs, services, and training for youth professionals. The Curriculum Center for Family and Consumer Sciences produces and disseminates instructional materials that support family and consumer sciences programs and to provides pre-service and in-service professional development to educators and administrators within those program areas. The Center supports teachers with a broad range of resources and is the only curriculum center in the nation that specializes in the development of curriculum materials for family and consumer sciences content areas.
