**Job Summary** The Manager, Billing is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's billing processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in claims submission and accounts receivable management. This position identifies root causes of billing errors or delays, implements corrective actions, and collaborates with other departments to resolve issues impacting revenue cycle performance. The Manager also leads, trains, and supports billing staff to achieve departmental and organizational financial goals. **Essential Functions** + Oversees daily billing operations, ensuring that claims are processed accurately and in compliance with all third-party payer, state, and federal regulations, including those from the Health Care Financing Administration. + Monitors unbilled reports and billing database hold files daily, addressing errors to ensure timely submission of claims to carriers. + Reviews random samples of insurance billings to verify accuracy and confirm claims are sent to the correct payer. + Develops and implements strategies to reduce recurring billing errors, accelerate cash collections, and decrease accounts receivable days. + Identifies root causes for claim processing delays and provides timely feedback to appropriate departments or personnel to facilitate resolution. + Maintains up-to-date knowledge of billing-related software applications and coordinates with external vendors as necessary to address system-related issues. + Trains, mentors, and manages billing personnel to ensure departmental goals and performance standards are achieved. Handles hiring, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of team members. + Collaborates with leadership to monitor and ensure compliance with the organization’s compliance plan and billing policies. + Prepares regular reports for the Director or Vice President on billing performance, compliance, and any challenges impairing processes. + Serves as a backup to billing staff during periods of high workload or emergency situations, ensuring uninterrupted operations. + Performs other duties as assigned. + Complies with all policies and standards. **Qualifications** + Associate Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field required + Bachelor's Degree preferred + 4-6 years of billing experience in a healthcare or revenue cycle environment required + 1-3 years of management or supervisory experience required + Demonstrated experience with billing compliance, claims resolution, and accounts receivable management required **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, including billing, claims submission, and accounts receivable management. + Proficiency in billing and accounts receivable software applications. + Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. + Excellent leadership and team management skills, including the ability to motivate and mentor staff. + Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple priorities effectively. + Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills. + Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare billing compliance regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements. + Ability to collaborate across departments and build effective working relationships. + Demonstrated ability to prepare and interpret financial and operational reports.
