Pay Range
$198,360 - $248,256 - Annually

Job DescriptionWe have an opening for a Business Operations Manager, who will oversee strategic business practices supporting High-Performance Computing (HPC) activities for the Weapon Simulation & Computing (WSC) Program. The WSC Program is an integral partner in the Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) program. By combining state-of-the-art simulation tools with world-class facilities and computers, WSC delivers capabilities needed to support the nation’s nuclear deterrent and other national security missions. In this role, you will be a key member of the WSC senior management team and lead key strategic and multi-laboratory HPC efforts and initiatives on behalf of WSC and LLNL. This position is in the Strategic Deterrence (SD) directorate.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options, may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.
In this role, you will
Provide innovative strategic guidance and tactical plans to the WSC Associate Director, senior management team, and technical leaders for achieving WSC mission-related objectives. This includes contributing to the strategic development and implementation of objectives and long-term goals of WSC.Define and implement novel business and policy related initiatives, including Multi-Lab or DOE-wide initiatives.Programmatically provide work direction, coordinate resources, and oversee scheduling activities. Resolve complex issues across complex multidisciplinary, programmatic, or organizational functional teams that support WSC HPC activities.Lead the analysis and design of complex business processes to improve efficiencies, workflows, and functions. Implement complex databases and business applications which support WSC/ASC program deliverables as well as has institutional impact.Engage in high-level interactions with senior executive management and other laboratories and sponsors.Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent combination of extensive experience and education in a related business, operational and/or organizational area.Significant experience developing strategic guidance and tactical plans for large scale projects using creativity and independently developing solutions to solve complex problems.Proven ability and confidence to manage large scale cross functional change projects that drive improvement and integration of processes, technology, and people.Expert problem solving, decision-making skills necessary to independently advise, counsel, recommend, and develop solutions.Experience leading small, medium, and large-scale or institutional projects demonstrating project management, business analysis and business process improvement skills.Experience utilizing comprehensive knowledge of project management techniques, lease to own processes to accomplish highly visible mission-related and institutional-wide projects, including anticipating, defining, identifying alternatives, and resolving multifaceted and diverse issues.Expert communication skills, both verbal and written, to prepare and deliver complex briefings and provide expert advice to executive management, government agencies, and sponsors. Experience anticipating needs, making recommendations, negotiating desirable outcomes, delegating effectively, and working issues across all levels.Ability to thrive in a complex, often ambiguous, collaborative, and fast-paced environment and form individualized connections and quickly establish rapport to foster action.Advanced analytical, research, and complex-problem-solving skills to independently and successfully resolve unique and highly complex problems.
