Summary

As part of the Defense & Security (D&S) U.S. Strategy Team, the Business Strategy Co-Op will support key phases of the strategy process, with an emphasis on strategic planning, special growth initiatives, and market research projects. This includes developing knowledge of market and customer trends to be able to represent Defense & Security (D&S) in front of key decision makers. Being the Business Strategy Co-Op on the U.S. Strategy Team is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the value that CAE D&S brings to its customers, while also setting up a great foundation for professional growth. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Research market, competitive, and customer data to help develop D&S’s annual 5-year Business Environment Assessment (BEA) 

Support the Strategy Team and other key groups within D&S, as they gather competitive and customer intelligence 

Support D&S’s Strategic Planning Process, which includes the creation of CAE’s 5-year Strategic Plan (forecasting and evaluation of complex data that drives company strategy) 

Analyze industry white papers and reports to be able to create takeaways and potential company implications  

Track government budgets and activity as it pertains to military markets 

Routinely observe trends and news within the Aerospace & Defense market, supporting leadership situational awareness 

Participate in planning and coordination of team activities and employee engagement projects 

Support other departments as needed 

 

 Qualifications and Education Requirements  

Working towards a degree in a business-related specialty or equivalent discipline 

Employees seeking an undergraduate or Master’s Degree must maintain a minimum of a Cumulative 3.0 GPA 

Professional presence: confident, well spoken, articulate, and organized 

Exhibit high performance and capability to work in a team environment 

Customer service-oriented, strong communication, and interpersonal skills 

Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word 

Ability to handle multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision 

A self-starter, with a willingness to learn and provide unsolicited solutions where applicable

Language Skills 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex policy and budget documents 

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints 

Ability to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals for groups of leaders within the organization 
 

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs 

 

Reasoning Ability 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions  

Ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication and to deal with a variety of abstract ideas 
 

Preferred Skills  

Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Teams 

Experience with folder sharing systems like SharePoint 

Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools, e.g. Domo or Tableau 

A high-level of interest in the Defense & Aerospace industry 

Willingness to learn new procedures and applications 

 

 

 

Security Responsibilities  

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.   

 Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment  

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  

 

Physical Demands

Ability to operate a personal computer, communicate via telephone, and give oral presentations 

Ability to work overtime as required
