This position is instrumental in implementing the city’s disparity study recommendations. Through a variety of administrative and outreach activities, the coordinator offers professional and technical support to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the City meets its contracting goals, fosters business and employment opportunities, and connects with community resource networks. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Certification Coordination + Coordinates the City of Toledo’s Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprise (WBE), Small Business Program, and Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) certification process, including: + Application Review & Approval + Operates the electronic certification systems + Conducts business certification site visits + Provides public presentations and information on the certification process + Issues certificates + Completes annual certification and procurement reports Business & Inclusion Supplier Inclusion Strategy + Assists the Department Director in implementing the business and supplier strategy by providing essential information and resources to divisions, departments, and contractors. + Maintains resources to enhance businesses’ capacity, including community resources, workforce development tools, payroll system information, estimating software, resource scheduling, bid management, accounting, building information modeling (BIM), and project management platforms. Outreach and Events • Represent the City of Toledo at various outreach events, community meetings, and trade shows. • Assists in coordinating city-sponsored events related to business inclusion. • Attends meetings, conferences, and working groups dealing with business inclusion. •Works with the Communications Department to develop marketing and engagement strategies. • Maintains a current MWSVBE business directory, ensuring information is regularly updated and accurate for all stakeholders. Developing and maintaining strong relationships • Acts as the main point of contact for businesses, ensuring clear and open communication channels. • Proactively address any issues or concerns that arise. • Regularly meet with businesses to gather feedback, understand their needs, and tailor our services to provide support. • Provides exceptional customer service. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: + Communication methods and procedures. + Microsoft programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). + Related laws, EEO,MBE, WBE, SBE, Veterans and DBE requirements. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS: + Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Affairs, Marketing, Communications or a closely related field. If a candidate does not possess an Associate’s Degree in any of the above-referenced areas, consideration will be given to individuals who possess an additional two (2) years of directly related experience. + Three (3) years of professional experience giving public presentations, corporate event planning, and /or outreach, particularly in business or local government. + One (1) year of experience managing multiple projects. + Must possess a valid driver’s license. + Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and meetings. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS: + Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Affairs, or a closely related field is preferred. Health Insurance The City of Toledo is a self-funded medical plan provider that offers a broad network of health services options for its employees. The City also offers a multi-tiered prescription drug plan and dental and vision care services. Employees are required to pay a monthly premium depending on the employee’s selection of single, single plus one, or family coverage.
