This position is an expert role in enterprise architecture, with strengths in business blueprints, collaboration and the methodology for translating business value into systems transformation. You will be a key architecture leader for the Raytheon business in ensuring business systems and applications are focused on leadership priorities, value and key capabilities for many years into the future, while also working with solution-level architects on drivers into technologies and integration. The role also includes close work with corporate representatives on the RTX Company-level Process and Systems Transformation, balancing commonality with support for critical business processes.

As an Enterprise Architect at Raytheon, you will enhance and expand the business blueprint characterizing value, capabilities, organizations and information that will shape business systems and applications. You will be part of a small team of senior architects at the business level with partners focused on the technology roadmaps and solutions, as well as interacting regularly with stakeholders at the corporate level who are leading an ERP Transformation.

Enable the Business, not Vendors – More commonality and reduced customization are not value propositions, they are a means to achieve value when they make sense. All integrations, standards, technologies and user experience must be driven by optimal benefits to business value streams which do, and always will, include non-digital steps that need to share the digital tools. Use cases will be used to shape a blueprint that appropriately constrains and scopes the role of ERP vs. Business Systems vs. Business Stakeholder actions.Connect to the Thread, not Tools – All integrations, automation and data transfers will be driven by building against the Business Digital Thread owned by Raytheon (or RTX), not by vendor-specific standards.Establish the Application Source of Truth Map – An authoritative map for applications tied to which are the best choice for which objectives and users will be developed and hosted in one digital platform across the business or enterprise.

On the collaboration with corporate partners and peers at other RTX businesses, the role requires close familiarity with process models, ERP systems, international business systems for landed companies and subsidiaries, and setting scalable integration methods to operate with both enterprise-wide standards and business agility. The work with Corporate will include focus areas on

Data readiness, including cleanup, structural design and harmonizationBusiness process harmonization, to understand the challenges, implications and changes necessary to harmonize processes and tools, andJoint development of a digital foundation, which considers global trade and cybersecurity, to ensure RTX can scale this technology enterprise-wide

You will be the primary architect at the Raytheon Business to develop and maintain master business models depicting value streams, business capabilities, organization maps, and information relationships to guide investments and strategic planning. You will collaborate with peer enterprise and solution architects, stakeholders and cross-functional leaders across RTX businesses to achieve these objectives.  Your work will be featured in our architecture repository, knowledgebase, intranet presence, and standard work and briefed to senior leaders.

As an architect, you will use formal architecture frameworks, agile practices, and strategic thinking (including TOGAF, Zachman, Scaled Agile, and CORE) to optimize our work, and coach architects on best practices and agile concepts.  You will identify and organize the Raytheon Business Architecture blueprints and associated guidance to solution architecture, plus champion continuous improvement to help all Digital architects understand business drivers.

What you will do:

Be the Raytheon Business Architecture leader. Develop and own the business blueprints and architecture expertise to guide the Raytheon Enterprise Business System strategy.Be a thought leader in identifying business-wide problems and opportunities that that affect strategic outcomes through business architecture, practices, assessments and models. Advocate for innovative and new platform capabilities and solutions.Establish and implement Enterprise Architecture models, artifacts, standards, and roadmaps for business, functional, and solution level systems. Ensure Enterprise Reference Architectures are leveraged across all of RTX.Mentor and coach architects to ensure successful implementation of IT systems by demonstrating technical judgment and adherence to architectural strategies, processes, and practices.Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of Raytheon’s business systems, applications, capabilities, and processes for all architects to use.Mature Digital Technology’s architecture practice by establishing shared principles, strategies, and implementation techniques. Contribute to growing the maturity and capabilities of the architecture team.Consult with senior-level executives, business/technology leaders, and engineers to understand, explain, and influence complex IT environments.Support engagements across RTX Business Units, including developing technical solutions for current and future challengesProvide expert knowledge of enterprise architecture and lean agile best practices to mature Digital Technology’s architecture practice and guide the implementation and adoption.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires bachelor’s degree and minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience or a master’s degree and minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree minimum 16 years of prior relevant experience or associate degree and minimum 14 years of relevant experience is required.Experience architecting and implementing large business transformation initiatives with guidance provided to solution architects and leaders.Experience with full lifecycle of IT systems and changes, including planning, design, deployment, and operations.The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

TOGAF trained or certified with experience using the Architecture Development Method framework to build and mature an enterprise architecture practice.Experience with formal architecture modeling, such as UML, BPMN, SysML, and ArchiMate using Sparx Enterprise Architect and similar tools.Experience with ERP platforms, such as SAP ECC or S/4.Demonstrated deep technical expertise and domain competencies in application development, data analytics, cloud infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity.Experience and certifications in AWS and Azure cloud platforms.Active member of the Business Architecture GuildExcellent written and oral communications skills including presentation and negotiation skills, preparing executive level briefings and summary explanationsAbility to dive deep and learn most aspects of how a business is structured to create value.Experience working in a distributed team environment including facilitating cross organizational solutions and locations in response to diverse objectivesSelf-directed with demonstrated ability to organize and provide technical leadership for a diverse (both geographic and technical) teamAbility to use abstraction and simplification to comprehend and communicate complex systems and ideas to different audiences.Persistence, focus, and dedication to working through long-term highly complex problems to realize incremental and long-term objectives.Empathetic people-focused leadership, to influence and build and develop relationships and key partnerships of trust.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
