Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Global Director for IT Business Engagement is responsible for supporting and executing gategroup’s IT business strategy. This role is the key business contact representing IT by promoting IT services, capabilities, supporting, and delivering overall IT services that meet the needs of the business. The successful candidate will serve as the business relationship link between regions and functions, and IT at the executive level for the purpose of business technology strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. The Global Director for IT Business Engagement will partner with business leadership and other key stakeholders to define opportunities and identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria following internal governance model. They will facilitate the regional investment intake process and the high-level planning and execution of business initiatives using technology. This role serves as a lead role in enabling the business to achieve their objectives through the effective use of global IT standards.Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Accountable for a Business Engagement team whose responsibilities are to deploy agreed IT roadmaps, overview the implementation of IT solutions, and ensure successful introductions across the organization and with customers.
• Define and introduce a process for consolidating business roadmaps and demands such they can be costed, prioritized, presented for investment approval, scheduled and delivered.
• Collaborate with regional and country management to develop annual budgets for respective regional areas.
• Reinforce solution concepts based on IT’s Toolbox and support business cases for new investments for all IT related topics.
• Accountable for ensuring the Business Engagement team conduct thorough analysis of business requirements and recommendations of solutions to meet business needs
• Create and analyze relevant information and develop recommendations that they present to senior management.
• Act as the key escalation between IT and business across all functional IT areas and ensure all third party vendors are identified and managed.
• Possess a broad knowledge of most technical and business resources and use them to effectively coordinate team members and external resources.
• Create shared vision of their respective solutions and facilitate decision making and arbitration relating to trade-offs both within and between different solution platforms.
• Identify, screen, and evaluate new solution opportunities to address internal and external customer needs.
• Partner with key staff members to create strategic business plans.
• Collaborate with architecture, design, and operations teams to ensure solution compatibility with company standards.
• Collaborate with Project Management Office on the intake process.
• Effectively managing changing business priorities, and drive IT functions to deliver to increasing business demands.
• Understanding how IT supports the business priorities, and understand the service levels and service priorities that the business requires;
• Ensuring the business appreciates what IT service levels are realistic given the budgets available;
• Leading the negotiation and agreement of those levels with IT CCoE and IT Operations;
• Monitoring and reporting on progress on IT service performance and issues in a clear, timely and meaningful way;
• Acting as an escalation point and point of problem resolution on any IT issue in the event of critical service problems
• Balancing service costs against business demands when determining how best to handle new requirements.
Qualifications
• Experience managing multiple priorities based on changing business needs is essential.
• Must possess strong business acumen.
• Strategic thinking and planning
• Good knowledge of the customer organization
• Commercial awareness and ability to represent business issues effectively to the IT community
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other related field preferred.
Work Experience:
• 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience.
• 10 years of leadership experience.
• 10 years developing and executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios.
Technical skills:
• Solid understanding of ITIL processes
• Broad (general) knowledge of the concepts, standards, technology, tools, procedures, hardware, software and services in use for delivering IT Services.
• Sound knowledge of applications and technologies used to support the main business processes
• Knowledge of the structure and processes within IT services
Language / Communication Skills:
• Excellent English skills.
• Any other major language preferred, but not required.
