We are looking for a Sr. Buyer to join our Shelby team!

As our Sr. Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing a variety of complex or technical supplies or services. You will coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner and process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers.

Your Challenge

Monitor the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.

Work with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.

Evaluates bids selects and recommends suppliers.

Interact closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality.

Follow up on all awards until completion of order.

Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.

May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.

Conduct supplier site visits and rates them as to production capability, performance and delivery.

May provide work leadership for junior level employees.

What You Bring

Must be a US Citizen

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

4+ years of experience in a similar role.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience with MS (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
