Role Overview:

The Buyer will manage the relationships of suppliers for assigned commodity categories. The incumbent will lead cost saving initiatives within assigned commodity categories, including lead-time and inventory reduction. This individual will provide management with data to assist in determining commodity and material advancements, pricing, and availability that may influence Bemis Quality of Service. 

Specific Responsibilities: 

Perform purchasing functions for assigned commodities; monitoring and sourcing and provide departmental back-up as needed. Negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain the best terms of purchase, including discounts, shipping, and payment terms. Effectively utilize systems and software tools required to manage the sourcing of products and components. Monitor raw material purchasing variances, lead-times, inventory turns, and rejections for assigned commodities. Communicate with manufacturing, engineering, and finance to ensure working knowledge or processes and resolve purchase order problems, including receiving errors and invoicing discrepancies. Stay up to date with industry trends and purchasing practices through continuous professional development and networking.Participate in projects and e-commerce activities
