Key Responsibilities:

Procure Materials and Components: Source and purchase raw materials (e.g., metal, steel, aluminum, sheet metal, welding supplies) and other necessary components for the fabrication process. Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors. Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to meet business requirements and optimize cost savings. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure that stock is maintained at optimal levels. Work with the production team to forecast material needs based on upcoming orders and project timelines. Quality Control: Ensure all materials meet the required quality standards. Coordinate with the production team to address any quality issues related to materials and work with suppliers to resolve problems. Order Processing: Place and track orders to ensure timely delivery of materials. Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, receipts, and inventory transactions. Cost Control: Collaborate with management to establish purchasing budgets. Ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising on quality and performance. Shipping and Receiving Coordination: Oversee the logistics of receiving materials and ensure proper documentation is provided for materials received. Work with the warehouse team to manage the flow of materials to production. Problem Resolution: Address any issues related to material shortages, incorrect shipments, or delays in delivery. Communicate with suppliers to resolve problems and ensure minimal disruption to production schedules. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain and update purchasing records, budgets, and reports. Provide regular updates on purchasing activities, stock levels, and supplier performance.

Qualifications:

Previous experience (3-5 years preferred) in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment. Knowledge of materials used in metal fabrication, including metals, welding materials, fasteners, and other consumables preferred. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and purchasing software. High school diploma required; Associate's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Occasional site visits to suppliers, warehouses, or production areas.
