Purchasing Technician BUYER Company Profile San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS), a San Antonio, Texas based privately held company, has been in business for over 40 years and has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear. Position: SAS has an opening for a Purchasing Technician. Job Responsibilities: + Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories. + Develop a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased. + Arranges and administers all aspects of procurement services for assigned categories to various departments. + Accountable for end to end performance metrics for assigned commodities + Coordinates and review with internal customer’s requisition, scopes of work, specifications and other considerations. + Review, modify and negotiates supplier terms and pricing. + Filing, data entry, and organizing as needed and other duties as assigned. + Prepare and sorts documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered. + Contacts preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data. + Makes necessary corrections to information entered. + Keeps records of work completed. + Transmits entered information into database. + Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: + Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. + Able to adapt to new technologies and techniques to increase productivity and keep technical skills up to date. + Skilled at identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner. + Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations. + Purchasing Knowledge, preferably in manufacturing environment. + Ability to comprehend data as it relates to Production Scheduling (Manufacturing). + Great customer service skills. + Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Good grammar, handwriting and spelling skills. + Proactive at managing purchased line items to minimize shortages Physical Requirements: + Ability sit or stand for 8 -10 hours per day with breaks approximately every two hours. + + The work is in a climate-controlled office. Education & Experience Requirements: + Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or one-year or more related experience or training. + Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus. + Direct experience using ERP systems preferred. + Computer proficient in Microsoft- Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Advanced Excel skills required. + Familiar with internet browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox.
