We have an outstanding Contract position for a Buyer to join a leading Company located in the Glendale, AZ surrounding area.
Responsibilities:Managing procurement of materials and services to support quality, delivery, and cost requirementsRequires application of basic purchasing principles, theories, and conceptsEnsuring timely acquisitions of products or services from known sources of supplyResolving issues in the areas of requisition accuracy and completeness, on-time delivery, and supplier paymentThis position reports directly to the Supply Chain ManagerPurchases parts, equipment, and materials by preparing requests for quotations and submitting purchase orders with approved suppliersIssues purchase orders and agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliersPlans, schedules, and manages production capacity load to ensure maximum on-time deliveryResponsible for maintenance and accuracy of open purchase orders, quotes, work orders, and part master dataMaintains accurate lead times for assigned commoditiesMonitors and evaluates production execution to plan and supplier performanceAdvises appropriate personnel of production issues or impending supplier failure to fulfill contractual agreements that may delay production or deliveryResolves shipment quality discrepancies by mediating supplier/manufacturing issuesFacilitates the resolution of issues by arranging and participating in conferences between suppliers and company personnelNegotiates and settles damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes with suppliersProvides parts, equipment, and materials information by answering questions and requestsPrepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsMaintains a variety of schedules, records, and reports pertaining to the tracking of materials through the production cycle and the availability of production resourcesAssists in executing requisite system transactions needed to support the receipt, storage, and transferring of materialResponsible for inventory levelsGenerates tracking reports and performs data entry as requiredParticipates in continuous improvement activities and provides suggestions for cost reduction and efficiency improvementsParticipates in developing alternate sources of supply by identifying and researching prospective suppliersParticipates in supplier site visits and evaluates them as to production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteriaMay complete supplier certification as part of a technical and/or quality teamComplies with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations; ensures adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actionsComplies with Government/Commercial Practices Manual (GPM/CPM) policies and procedures
Basic Hiring Criteria:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field and has passed the majority (3 or more) of the CPIM national certification exams, OR is CPIM certifiedDemonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six or more years of related experience
Desired Qualifications:Thorough knowledge of manufacturing resources planning theories, principles, and industry practicesThorough knowledge of manufacturing resource planning systems, business application software, and interface operationsAbility to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement methods (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT)Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements related to production controlAbility to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffsAbility to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways and evaluate alternative solutions that may require coordination across multiple teamsAbility to establish goals and objectives to complete projectsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret policies and recommend changes to proceduresAbility to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top managementAbility to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business communityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities
