Job Description
This role requires a very strong communicator who is comfortable with conflict, gathers data, and finds solutions. Strong business acumen, self-motivation, and experience in purchasing are crucial. The buyer will support the service parts for Engine and Powertrain components within the Customer Service Division.
Responsibilities
+ Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
+ Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments, communicating any supply problems impacting business operations.
+ Act as an interface between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects.
+ Monitor and advise on issues presenting risks or opportunities to the organization.
+ Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
+ Provide analysis on costs, both new and existing, and review cost reduction activities.
+ Collaborate closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement.
+ Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities for business savings.
+ Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships, ensuring good communication.
+ Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
+ Compile data relating to supplier performance for evaluation purposes.
+ Resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues with suppliers.
+ Address supplier shortages and past-due situations.
+ Update and maintain commodity strategies.
+ Work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates for savings negotiations and to mitigate supplier uplift requests.
+ Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.
+ Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.
+ Review open vehicles off road (VOR) and backorders weekly, expediting parts delivery.
Essential Skills
+ 4+ years of purchasing/buyer experience
+ Automotive purchasing experience
+ Strong motivation, self-starter, solution-oriented
+ Intermediate Excel skills (testing required), Power USER (80% and up, must pass VLOOKUP & Pivot Table)
+ SAP/ERP experience
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with Powertrain, Engine, and ICE purchasing
Work Environment
The position is hybrid, with 3 days onsite (typically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) but flexibility is required for team meetings or supplier visits. The work is performed in a recently renovated, open-concept building with no set desk assignments and a large cafeteria. The dress code is business casual (khakis/dress pants with a button-down shirt or blouse). Work hours are 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday, with current work-from-home days being Tuesday and Wednesday. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $49.00/hr.
