We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, particularly with frozen and refrigerated products. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for managing day-to-day purchasing operations, analyzing market conditions, ensuring optimal stock levels, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain a high level of service. The successful applicant will possess strong analytical skills, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily:

Oversee the daily purchasing of frozen and refrigerated products to ensure critical inventory levels are maintained.Conduct early morning reviews of the out-of-stock list to prioritize purchasing needs.Review midday low stock reports and take appropriate action to replenish inventory.Create product codes for new items and delete codes for discontinued products.Meet with brokers and manufacturer representatives to discuss procurement strategies.Perform price comparisons to ensure cost-effectiveness and competitiveness.Monitor market trends for butter, eggs, cheese, poultry, pork, and beef.Track and maintain Certificates of Insurance relevant to procurement activities.Review and verify invoices for pricing accuracy before processing payments.Follow up on short or delayed deliveries to maintain inventory levels.Conduct end-of-day inventory reviews to identify potential out-of-stock items and place orders accordingly.Assist the General Manager with additional tasks as needed.Adhere to all policies outlined in the VFS Employee Handbook, with a requirement to read and sign the agreement.

Weekly:

Conduct on-site visits to Foodfest to review buying procedures and communicate current market conditions.Establish pricing strategies on all market-sensitive items to maximize profitability.Prepare a weekly market summary to inform team members of pricing and procurement trends.Review the Cost Audit report and make necessary corrections to purchasing records.Actively participate in weekly management meetings to discuss strategies and performance.Analyze slow movement reports and coordinate promotional activities for underperforming products.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
