The Purchaser - Buyer will negotiate, create & administer agreements for the acquisition and of assigned materials and services. Responsible for acquiring the highest value items and obtaining maximum value for each dollar spent. Meets requirements of internal & external customers and has regular contact with all departments and with key suppliers.
Procure items required for production so that Atotech obtains the highest possible value, includes solicitation of bids, recommendation of suppliers, and negotiation of agreements.
You Will Make an Impact: • Have working knowledge of imports and resale products. Serve as back up to others in Purchasing.• Reviews and acts upon MRP messages and other SAP reports. Maintains SAP databases with regard to order quantities delivery dates, prices, supplier info, lead times etc.• Locates sources for new materials and develops alternate sources for existing materials.• Develops knowledge of products, processes, markets and trends for assigned materials. Keeps Management up to date on market trends issues and changes.• Makes recommendations and seeks approval on process improvements to optimize supply chain and contain costs.• Interfaces with Accounting on invoicing issues, with Manufacturing and Quality to resolve supply and quality issues.• Works to develop systems that maintain material availability optimize inventory levels and ensure continuity of raw material supply.• Expedites purchase orders in order to meet production schedule and customer requirements.• Using competitive bidding, negotiating and new source qualification, achieve cost reduction/profit improvement goals as defined.• Perform other duties as assigned by Purchasing Manager.• Be an expert user of SAP functionality.• Perform other related duties that may be assigned or associated with the responsibility of the position.
Skills that You Bring:
• Bachelor degree in business or equivalent experience
• 4+ Years experience in Purchasing or similar experience
• Chemical industry experience
• SAP Experience
