JOB SUMMARY: The Buyer/Customer Service role has the primary responsibility of end-to-end supply chain management for assigned value streams. Other responsibilities include supporting material/product level revisions, interacting/coordinating with suppliers & customers on a variety of topics, and supporting other business functions as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as a point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve client or customer needs.Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed.Negotiates with outside supply vendors; ensures accurate and timely delivery of orders.Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule.Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead timesAssist in the preparation of the master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to customer orders.Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing capacity and human resource requirements.Assist in planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times to meet customer requirements.Attend daily production meeting. Be prepared daily to discuss status of orders, delivery and any conflicts or potential issues with orders.Confer with department supervisors to determine status of orders.Expedite customer orders and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Investigate and resolve scheduling problems, inventory errors, and job priorities. Coordinate customers’ shipping schedules.Work with Customers, Sales, Engineering, Planning and Management to ensure 100% on time deliveries.Prepare production reports, machine capacity reports, daily schedules, and shortage reports.Prepare list of required materials, tool, and equipment.Coordinate material requirements between Purchasing and Manufacturing.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

3 or more years of experience in a buyer/planner/material scheduler.BS/BA in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, and Logistics preferred.Knowledge of forecasting, MRP, transportation, supply chain, inventory management and warehousing disciplines.Proficient with MS Office suite – particularly MS ExcelStrong sense of urgency & attention to detailExcellent organization, communication and follow-up skillsAble to influence others & manage conflictAbility to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations
