Knowledge Skills Abilities:
General knowledge of a wide variety of materials, equipment and services necessary for the efficient and effective operation of a large public school system. Knowledge of the laws, regulations, processes and procedures involved in educational procurement. Knowledge of vendors and sources to obtain commodities needed by public schools. Ability to write clear bid specifications and test materials/products. Ability to evaluate and analyze vendor/bid responses, creating databases to be used in the analysis process. . . Ability to organize and prioritize duties. Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative needed to deal effectively with vendor representatives., Extensive experience in Microsoft programs and experience in database software. Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure, demonstrating excellent time management and record keeping skills in order to preserve the bid solicitation schedule. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education Training Experience:
Associates degree required. Bachelor^s degree preferred. College course work in business, procurement, finance, accounting, marketing or a related field, A minimum experience of two years in making purchasing decisions for organizations with diverse needs requiring independent judgment. Experience in educational government procurement preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.Certificate License:Must possess or obtain certification as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) within 6 months of eligibility.
