Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and solution-oriented Buyer to join our team within the Customer Service Division - Purchasing. The ideal candidate should be a strong communicator, comfortable with conflict, and possess good business acumen. You will be responsible for purchasing goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
ResponsibilitiesPurchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization.Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.Provide analysis on costs, both new and existing, and review cost reduction activities.Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements.Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and maintain good communications.Conduct research for new components and suppliers.Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.Resolve supplier shortages and past-due situations.Update and maintain commodity strategies.Work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates as needed for savings negotiations and to mitigate supplier uplift requests.Produce weekly reports, charts, and status updates on open assignments and projects.Perform market tests, analyze responses, and award sourcing of parts.Review open vehicles off road (VOR) and backorders on a weekly basis and expedite parts delivery.Essential Skills3+ years of purchasing/buyer experienceAutomotive purchasing experienceMotivated, self-starter, solution-orientedIntermediate Excel skills (testing required)Additional Skills & QualificationsSAP experienceTakes initiativeSelf-starterQuick learnerBachelor's degree in a related fieldWork Environment
The role is hybrid, typically requiring onsite presence three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), though flexibility is needed for team meetings or supplier visits. Work is conducted in a recently renovated open-concept building with no set desk assignments and a large cafeteria. The dress code is business casual, and work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The current work-from-home days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Employees receive one week of vacation after six months of employment and are eligible for ten paid holidays after 30 days.
