The role of a Strategic MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Indirect Purchasing Buyer is pivotal in meticulously analyzing and responding to the demand for indirect materials. This position entails an in-depth understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) to decipher procurement requirements and optimize purchasing strategies. Utilize historical data and forecasting techniques to anticipate and address fluctuations in demand. BOM Optimization: Effectively apply BOM explosion techniques to gain insights into the specific materials required for production, enabling precise procurement and inventory management. Negotiation Excellence: Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and costs with suppliers, ensuring cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality standards. Supplier Development: Actively develop and evaluate new suppliers to enhance the supplier base, fostering robust relationships and diversifying sourcing options to increase flexibility and reduce risk. Continuous Cost Reduction: Analyze new materials, innovative sourcing strategies, and cost-saving opportunities. Implement initiatives to consistently reduce costs and improve the efficiency of indirect materials procurement. Strategic Procurement Planning: Develop and execute strategic procurement plans, emphasizing proactive measures to assure the timely availability of indirect materials for production, aligning with the monthly production plan. Supplier Performance Evaluation: Regularly evaluate supplier performance, addressing any quality or delivery issues promptly to maintain uninterrupted production. Inventory Management: Implement sound inventory management practices to maintain optimal stock levels, avoiding shortages, overstock situations, and ensuring efficient material flow to support production needs. Cost Tracking and Reporting: Track and report cost savings and improvements achieved through strategic procurement initiatives, providing clear documentation of contributions to cost reduction efforts. Required Education / Experience / Skills:
