Job Description

Miller Electric, an ITW company, is seeking a Buyer to join the Welding Accessories and Cutting team.  As a Buyer, you will play a key leadership role, driving change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to lead, coordinate, and support supply chain activities for the Welding Accessories & Cutting Division.

In this role, you will manage both tactical and strategic supply chain responsibilities, focusing on continuous improvement with suppliers and manufacturing teams. You will also collaborate closely with ITW Welding Group Companies to execute shared strategies effectively.

How you will make an impact:

Procurement and Vendor Management

Lead strategic sourcing projects and resourcing activities within the divisionDevelop and manage our supplier baseResponsible for vendor negotiation (price, delivery, quality compliance)Developing collaborative versus transactional relationships with key vendorsSupplier visits, evaluation, and quality auditsCommunicate MRD adjustments to suppliers based upon expected material requirementsProactively manage the Corrective Action Request process

Materials Management

Activities related to procurement, storage, and shipment of materialsManage material price variance, inventory turns, and site cost reduction programsResponsible for cycle counts and inventory managementResponsible for maintaining MOH goals as well as limiting the non-"active" inventory classificationResponsible for raw materials when transitioning from an existing product to a new product

Operational Efficiency and Cost Management

Leading cost, quality, delivery, productivity, and simplification activitiesDocumentation of all cost savings and avoidancesSupervise material handlers and seek out areas for simplificationDaily interaction with operations, product, and engineering staff

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Operations/Supply Chain/Business Management requiredMinimum of three years experiencePrevious experience in effective supplier management (price negotiation, delivery, quality)Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office package)Travel up to 10% of time
