Education: Associate of Science degree in Electronics Technology, Information Technology, or related field is highly preferred or may be required.


Certification: Master Electrician, ISA, Microsoft, and/or Cisco Certification is preferred.


Experience: This position requires 2 to 4 years of relevant industrial experience in controls and automation.


Job Summary:


Generally responsible for performing routine design of less complex assignments using practical knowledge and design methods in the implementation of DCS/PLC/HMI/SIS systems. With experience at this level, the expectation is to assist in the design of larger and more complex controls and automation assignments. Work at this level requires progressive experience in process controls, automation, and/or instrumentation design and involves utilization of project controls for cost, schedule, and quality of projects. This work will be performed under general supervision.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:


• Supporting the company’s efforts to maintain CSIA Certification.
• Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project
task team.
• Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.
• Providing on-site assistance during startup.
• Providing on-call coverage to clients as required.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel in the department.
• Coordinating work activities with teammates and the discipline lead.
• Producing control system and electrical installation specifications with engineering review and approval.
• Complete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform design functions.
• Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines in proportion to their technical skills and experience with follow up support to ensure efficient progress and quality.
• Performing fieldwork necessary to gather field data, check tie-ins, and provide construction support.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
• Ability to understand and implement the current version of ISA S88 programming standards.
• Ability to understand and implement the current version of IEC 61131 programming languages and standards.
• Ability to understand and implement the current version of ISA S84 programming standards.
• Ability to understand and implement the current version of OSHA 1910.119 Management of Change.

Preferred Skills:


• Experience with creating, using, and deploying Virtual Machines.
• Experience with Network Security.
• Knowledge of Modbus protocols (Serial and TCP).
• Knowledge of Ethernet and LAN/WAN systems such as Cisco switches and routers.
• Basic understanding of CAD software, either AutoCAD or Microstation.
• Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Knowledge and application of the current version of the NFPA 497 and 499 and NEC 500 and 505
guidelines for hazardous area classifications.
• Working knowledge of the current version of NFPA 70E, 85, and 86.
• Knowledge and application of NEC, IEC & CENELEC hazard rated equipment.
• Knowledge and application of the current version of NEMA 250 enclosure standards and IEC
60529 Ingress Protection rating standards.

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
