Job Description
• Identify and prepare pathways and supports for new cabling system installation
• Pull copper, coaxial and fiber optic cable in backbone, horizontal and riser environments
• Terminate voice and data jacks
• Terminate data cables on patch panels
• Terminate and/or cross-connect voice cables on 66 or 110 blocks
• Assist with build out of data closets – install ladder rack, cable trays, data racks and rack-mount equipment
• Learn how to read blue prints and assist with identifying cabling pathways
• Comply with all building codes and safety standards
• Communicate effectively with Technicians, Foreman, Field Supervisors and other coworkers about project status
• Assist with testing copper cable installations and learn to use testing equipment
Top Skills Details
Cabling Installation and Termination: This includes identifying pathways, pulling various types of cables (copper, coaxial, fiber optic), and terminating voice and data jacks, cables on patch panels, and voice cables on 66 or 110 blocks.
Technical Proficiency and Compliance: This involves assisting with the build-out of data closets, reading blueprints, complying with building codes and safety standards, and testing copper cable installations using appropriate equipment.
Effective Communication and Documentation: This skill is crucial for communicating project status with team members and completing necessary paperwork such as timesheets, expense reports, and mileage reports accurately and timely.
Additional Skills & Qualifications: 2-3 years of experience in low voltage installation, working with cat 5 cat 6 cable. Fiber not required will train on this.
Candidates must have their own hand tools. This client will provide power tools.
Must have valid drivers license.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
