Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join their dynamic team. In this role, the CAD Designer will provide essential support to the engineering department by creating detailed drawings, sketches, and diagrams using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools. The CAD Designer will contribute to the development of complex mechanical designs, optimizing performance and ensuring ease of fabrication, assembly, and testing across a variety of platforms including manned and unmanned vehicles, aircraft, ships, and spacecraft.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to): Develop complex designs for imaging systems, thermal solutions, materials, and mechanisms. Design mechanical enclosures and optical assemblies with precision in mounting, adjustment, actuation, alignment, and measurement techniques. Conduct structural and thermal analysis and oversee environmental testing. Collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Maintain clear communication through written documentation and oral presentations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineer or closely related engineering discipline. 5+ years of experience in mechanical design with proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks is preferred). Extensive knowledge of mechanisms and complex mechanical assemblies. Experience in opto-mechanical subsystem and component design, including familiarity with fabrication techniques (i.e., machining, sheet metal, etc.). Competence in thermal and structural analysis and understanding of optical systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and deadlines. Prior experience in opto-mechanical design is highly advantageous. Familiarity with military standards and specifications is a plus. Experience in coordinating and executing system performance testing is preferred. Due to the nature of the work, an Interim clearance is required, however an active Secret clearance is highly preferred. POST-OFFER BACKGROUND CHECK IS REQUIRED.
