The CAD Drafter 1 is responsible for performing well-defined drafting services using CAD software for a variety of civil engineering, permitting, and survey related tasks. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic and organizational skills. A CAD Drafter 1 should demonstrate proficiency with basic drafting fundamentals and be able to quickly learn and apply new drafting skills. This person is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary.

Project Delivery Produces the following under close direction/oversight from others: Plan sheets Exhibits Back checks all redlines and instructions have been incorporated Reviews all assigned deliverables for consistency Understanding Budget and ScheduleBasic understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets. Collaborates with supervisor and/or resource manager to plan work time on assignments. Conducts basic monitoring of budget and schedule for simple project tasks assigned.

Understanding of drafting fundamentals Learns and applies CAD standards for DOWL and DOWL clients (Cities, Counties, States, Federal, etc.) Accurately interprets redlines and update CAD drawings and details Client InteractionInfrequent direct client interaction. Reads emails, occasionally attends client meetings, listens, and prepares meeting minutes.

Level of Work/AccountabilityPerforms basic levels of drafting work on projects in support of more experienced staff within the market sector. Operates with minimal autonomy – work is closely supervised by more senior staff.
