Schedule: **Monday to Friday; 9x80 - 1st shift, 7am start time flexible on start time**
Pay Rate: **$40.67 to $50.66 per hour**
**Role Summary & Impact**
As a **CAD Operator** , you'll be at the heart of our machine shop operations, supporting the design and manufacturing of hardware for the aviation industry. You'll use CNC and manual tools to create high-precision parts for aircraft systems, ensuring quality and safety at every step. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and precision of the production process, playing a vital role in the success of aviation projects.
**Day-to-Day Responsibilities:**
+ **Programming & Manufacturing:** Write and develop programs for CNC machines, including multi-axis, live-tool lathes, 5-axis mills, and 3-axis mills, based on engineering drawings and specifications.
+ **Machine Setup & Operation:** Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including **Mori-Seiki** multi-axis lathes, **Haas** 5-axis mills, and manual machines like band saws and mills.
+ **Training & Mentoring:** Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members (those with less than one year of experience) on programming and operating CNC machines.
+ **Safety & Best Practices:** Enforce and adhere to all safety standards within the machine shop while offering machining suggestions and best practices for improved efficiency.
+ **Continuous Improvement:** Analyze engineering drawings to define part configurations and machining sequences. Test and modify existing programs to accommodate engineering changes or improvements.
+ **Collaboration & Communication:** Work closely with team members to communicate effectively, empathize with others, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
**Qualifications:**
**Required:**
+ **5+ years of programming experience** in CNC machining, particularly with multi-axis lathes, 5-axis mills, and 3-axis mills (preferably using **NX CAM** ).
+ **5+ years of machine setup and operation experience** , including experience with **Mori-Seiki** multi-axis lathes, **Haas** 5-axis mills, 3-axis mills, and manual mills.
+ **Willingness to train and mentor** less experienced personnel (less than one year of experience).
+ Strong **communication skills** and the ability to provide clear feedback and suggestions.
**Preferred:**
+ **10+ years of experience** in CNC programming, setup, and operation, with advanced skills in **NX CAM** and **MasterCAM** .
+ Past **mentorship or leadership experience** in a CNC machining environment.
+ Proven experience in improving manufacturing and shop processes for greater efficiency.
