CAD Technician

Our Client, a Business Manufacturing and Supply company, is looking for a CAD Technician for their Painted Post, NY location. Responsibilities:
+ Provides mechanical design and technical support to engineers involved in the design, development and testing of industrial thermal process equipment.
+ Assist engineers with the design of mechanical equipment components using both AutoCAD and Solidworks software.
+ Updates and revises existing equipment drawings and documentation.
+ Supports equipment debug, start-up and installations.
+ Produces equipment and process documentation (spare parts lists, SOP’s, machine specifications, etc.).
+ Procure material and process equipment using Client Incorporated approved processes.
+ Modifies design layouts of mechanical systems and subsystems using computer aided design under the direction of an engineer (2D/3D).
+ Modifies and revises assembly and detail drawings of robot tooling, machine components and associated equipment.
+ Assist with the preparation of documentation packages (drawings and written materials).
+ Compiles Spare Parts Lists based on vendor or engineer recommendations.
+ Assists engineers with specifications for commercially available material handling equipment and systems.
+ Supports project teams with estimates, tracks and reports costs, and project timelines.
+ Assists in preparing of training materials and training of plant/customer personnel.
+ Demonstrates effective communication of technical ideas using graphic, written and oral media.
+ Confers with vendors in the final selection of commercial components and writes purchase requisitions.
Requirements:
+ Familiarity with Solidworks and Auto CAD
+ Ability to work in a team-based environment and to contribute to a highly matrixed project team.
+ Understands and values working in a diverse environment.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities through sound planning and organizing.
+ Ability to select standard mechanical parts from a vendor catalog or by contacting the vendor.
+ Technical curiosity
+ Mechanical aptitude
+ Knowledge of ANSI drawing standards
+ Ability to work independently to complete drafting and design tasks.
+ Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
+ Willingness to mentor other less experience Technician and to advise Engineers on best practice for mechanical design.
+ Minimum of a 2 year technical degree (Mechanical technology, CAD, etc.)
+ Minimum 2-3 years of experience
+ Professional, courteous, and positive attitude Flexible Strong oral and written communication skills Values diversity in the workplace Able to communicate clearly to team members, vendors and the customer. Willing to take on additional responsibilities (for example small to mid-size projects) Self-motivator who is engaged with engineers and project requirements.
