JOB SUMMARY FOR CAE ANALYST: 

Work Location: 

In Livonia, Michigan and/or other unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.. 

Responsibilities:

Building FEA models for various applications in automotive and industrial segments using commercial software (Altair HyperWorks, ANSA, LS-DYNA3D, Abaqus, Nastran). Conducting CAE analysis under the guidance of a lead engineer or supervisor using CAE tools. Supporting analysis with sound engineering explanation and hand calculations. Reviewing results with the lead engineer or supervisor and share with customer. Recommending alternative analysis approaches and design solutions to meet the functional targets. Interfacing with customer to complete tasks with a high level of quality while meeting timelines. Connecting simulation with practical aspects of Cost/Weight/Investment (CWI), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA). Maintaining pertinent information in assigned location and perform data cleanup. Providing design solutions for mechanical systems based on fundamental principles in NVH, durability and crash domains. Applying different computer-aided engineering software packages such as nCode, Optistruct. Programing using Python to expedite pre-processing of model build and post-processing of FEA results. Telecommuting permitted.

Education & Experience Required 

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. 

University coursework must have included: Building FEA models, reviewing and interpreting analysis results; analyzing the durability of a structure using FEA models; Python programming; correlating FEA to tests using Digital Image Correlation; and developing material models for composite materials.

40 hrs/wk.  8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
