Cafe Padrino Cashier

Job Summary: The Cafe Padrino Cashier is responsible for preparation (or assisting with preparation) of salads, fruits, hot and cold sandwiches and dessert items sold in cafeteria.  Sets up and restocks salad, soup, dessert and sandwich bars in cafeteria.  Ensures that the flavor, temperature, color, texture and appearance of food items prepared meet departmental quality standards.  Operates cash register systems and prepares daily cash and charge reports.  Assists with maintaining overall cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafeteria areas. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum one year cashier experience required. Minimum one year foodservice experience preferred. Experience in a fast-paced, high volume foodservice facility preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Coordination and ability to safely operate kitchen/cafeteria equipment, including not limited to:  garbage disposal, knives, food chopper, blender, hot decks, coffee makers, microwaves, etc. Able to manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail; and work independently, with minimal supervision. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; hear and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; and identify/distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace. Positively interacts with co-workers and supervisors daily.  Involved in giving instructions/training to new employees and dietetic students. Continuous standing and walking. Stooping and bending to lift food, supplies, equipment up to 40-50 pounds. Ability to perform simple math functions in adjusting recipes, determining over/under production, determining number of servings and providing proper change for cash transactions from cafeteria customers. Ability to see, distinguish colors and accurately taste foods in evaluating quality of food items. Able to write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: Current Food Handler's Certification from Riverside County Public Health Department required. ServSafe certification preferred.
