This position is an opportunity to work in the Calibration and Test Engineering team for Wavelength Management and other Lumentum flagship products. In this role, you will help to develop and implement automated processes used to characterize and test our latest generation of optical communications transport subsystem products: WSS, ROADM elements, optical amplifiers, optical channel monitors, super transport blades etc. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides scalable solutions to enable high-quality manufacturing of products that fulfill an increasingly important role in optical communications networks.
 

The role involves working with state-of-the-art and a range of lab test and measurement equipment. In addition, it will involve collaboration with members of other teams such as firmware, hardware, mechanical, and optical design, as well as interfacing with global manufacturing.
 

Duties include:
 

Work closely with R&D teams to develop calibration and test plans aimed at optimizing product performance and ensuring compliance to specifications.Develop automation software and work with manufacturing facilities to introduce and support calibration and test implementation.Through teamwork and technical approaches, solve problems related to product failures or test system issues.Enhance reliability, yield, and throughput of test processes in manufacturing while maintaining low cost.Manage test data and production trends to enable continuous improvement.Trial and deploy developed improvements in remotely located manufacturing plants.

Requirements
 

BSc or MA in Science/Computer/Engineering Field.3+ years experience with software-interfaced instrument control, either in a research or manufacturing role.Demonstrable knowledge of optical communication technology.Software skills: Experience with VB6/VB.NET/C# Experience with development methodologies (Agile, etc.)Experience bringing products from development to production in a high-tech environment.Demonstrable problem-solving skills, technical and mathematical aptitude.Proven ability to work within a team in a rapid time-to-market product development cycle.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
