Calibration Engineer
Job Title: Core Engine Calibration Engineer

Job Description

The Core Engine Calibration Engineer is responsible for generating optimal base engine calibrations that meet program objectives in terms of performance, control stability, fuel consumption, and minimizing emissions. This role involves setting up and controlling engine sensors and actuators under various engine operating conditions, conducting engine hardware and systems testing, and supporting standardized and specialized engine test requests.

ResponsibilitiesGenerate optimal base engine calibrations meeting performance, control stability, fuel consumption, and emissions objectives.Set up and control engine sensors and actuators for all engine operating conditions, both steady state and transient.Conduct engine hardware and systems testing and support other teams with engine test requests.Plan and coordinate day-to-day activities of an engine and powertrain dynamometer.Collaborate with technicians and laboratory support engineers.Develop test plans and timelines, and generate reports to communicate program status.Evaluate new engine hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry-over applications.Analyze and solve complex system problems related to engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and base engine calibration development.Manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of engine mapping data.Participate in the decision process of base engine hardware selection and base engine calibration to achieve functional objectives.Essential SkillsBachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engines; or a Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with three (3) years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engines.Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines.Expertise in engine control strategies and complex optimization strategies.Experience in data acquisition, collecting, and processing data.Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions development, engine technologies, and competitive products.Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsMaster of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.Experience and overall knowledge in emissions development, powertrain systems development, and controls systems development.Knowledge of calibration processes using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques.Proficiency in advanced simulation tools.Proficiency in Matlab / Simulink.Work Environment

The role is onsite at the CTC facility, requiring attendance anywhere from 3-5 days a week. The environment involves working with various engine and powertrain technologies, utilizing advanced tools and equipment, and collaborating with a team of technicians and engineer

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.06 - $50.06/hr.
