Role Overview and Responsibilities

Introduction

We require a Calibration Technician to join our busy Test and Development team, based at our site in Abercynon South Wales.

 

Reporting to the Test and Development Team Lead, the Calibration Technician is primarily responsible for ownership of the companies’ calibration activity for manufacturing areas, and for supporting functions.

 

Key Responsibilities

With the support of the Test and Development Team Lead, fulfil the company’s calibration requirements. This may be via the direct use of internally available calibration equipment and facilities or utilisation of externally provided services, and will Include but not be limited to the following:

Ownership, continuing development, improvement and maintenance of calibration activity and associated documentation for all local manufacturing areas.Measuring, gauging and inspection tools and equipment primarily used within (but not limited to) the sites machine shop and assembly areas.Conducting laboratory tests and measurements to facilitate all calibration tasks within the Test & Development Team.Identify and liaise with external calibration service providers when necessary to cover shortfalls in internal calibration capability.Provide technical support to internal functions when necessary during technical liaison with suppliers of gauging and inspection tools and equipment.Analytically record all calibration data and present results appropriately within calibration records/certificates.Provide input when determining an appropriate calibration frequency for new or existing equipment either via evaluation of historical data or via data acquisition from experimentation.

 

Other Responsibilities 

Where required, provide technical support and/or calibration services to other TT Electronics sites and at other locations when equipment is located at the premises of our business partners.Participate in other calibration activity, such as monitoring, verification and control of:Wire termination equipment (assembly area)Torque limiting equipment (assembly area)Assembly gaugesOther manufacturing equipment i.e. ovens, force/torque analysersLab equipmentProvide technical support to site operations, engineering and quality functions.Actively participate in, and support, the companies 5S and Health and Safety programmes.Liaise with standards bodies, monitor updates, and implement associated actions.Identify, and liaise with, appropriate suppliers of lab services. Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Qualification/Skills/Personal Qualities – CORE

Confident clear communication, both verbal and written. A high level of proficiency in English language (written) is essential.Be presented in a professional demeanour with good interpersonal skills and high levels of integrity.Be able to apply a structured logical approach to all work.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.The ability to balance working on multiple tasks simultaneously.The ability to learn and use complex equipment.Appropriate engineering/technical qualification. Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Measurement / Control, or other appropriate subject area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.5+ years related technical experience is advantageous.Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet).Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

Qualification/Skills/Personal Qualities – DESIRED

Practical experience working within a nationally accredited test lab and/or an understanding of the accreditation services provided by national bodies would be advantageous.An understanding of electrical principles and ability to work with electrical instruments/equipment would be advantageous but not essential.

Our Recruitment Process

Formal Interviews will be held on site and include a tour of the facility.

 

Due to the specific projects TT Electronics Abercynon Supports we are unable to sponsor work visas for this role. Candidates will be required to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard Clearance and hold UK or US citizenship.

 

Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre and during employment drug and alcohol testing.
