Job Description
Position Overview
As the Director, Offshore Development your responsibilities will include project management and building a local team to support the development of Invenergy’s California project. As well as overseeing regional project resources: early midterm project development, stakeholder engagement, business development, permitting and interagency.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in early-stage project development to financial close within the California market: business development, stakeholder engagement, external affairs, infrastructure project activities/technologies, site suitability analysis and an extensive understanding of the California political landscape as it relates to offshore project development.
In addition to leading all aspects of the California project, the candidate will also be a senior leader in the Invenergy regional organization and the expansion of the company into the California market.
Responsibilities:
+ Work as key member of the Even Keel Wind external engagement team, closely coordinating with representatives from other Invenergy organizations and key project personnel including government affairs, communications, environmental permitting, technical, local economic development, labor, and tribal.
+ Serve as the conduit to highlight marine related issues requiring feedback/escalation to oversee the fisheries liaison resources and associated contracts.
+ Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key maritime-focused external stakeholders in the offshore wind industry in California.
+ Represent the project at maritime related outreach events to build a coalition of support and address potential affected stakeholders’ concerns.
+ Lead a team of regional project resources in support of project development within CA regions: early midterm project development, early-stage procurement, stakeholder engagement, business development, timeline, permitting and interagency.
+ Identify and recruit key individuals in the California region, with the support of Invenergy recruitment, for the project team.
+ Develop and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual development plans and budgets.
+ Coordinate with project engineering in support of local development and project specific design standards to be utilized.
+ Support economic modeling for all project phases (DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX).
+ Collaborate with M&A and Finance teams to identify, assess, and execute acquisition opportunities for project related assets.
+ Represent the project externally and support climate and policy discussions in coordination with the Public/Government Affairs and environmental teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ A BS or BA from an accredited college program (Business or Engineering degrees preferred).
+ 8+ years of experience in wind energy, renewable energy, energy/utilities, offshore, oil & gas, or maritime industries
+ Travel within CA., (25-50%)
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in offshore wind preferred.
+ Experience providing overall technical oversight to a regional project development team.
+ Experience supporting the design basis and specifications for site characterization and preliminary engineering works of an onshore project.
+ Experience in the integration disciplines of a large generation facility project including interconnection, energy and capacity yield assessment, site control, ROW agreements and GIS.
+ Experience supporting economic modeling for all phases of a project.
+ Experience preparing RFI/RFPs, definition of work scopes and consolidation of bids from contractors in support of development activities.
+ Experience in the development of an onshore wind or similar project (scale/complexity) including program management functions (e.g., budget, schedule, procurement).
+ Track record managing and/or coordinating both internal and external subject matter experts in the areas of permitting, engineering, and supply chain.
+ Working knowledge of design standards and impacts on onshore wind technology decisions, project development impacts, and project delivery on a regional basis.

Salary Range
$165,000 - $220,000
