Description:

Position Purpose:

This position assists the department in the clerical aspects of preparation for patient meal service through accurate menu processing and assisting patients with menu selection.

What you will do:

Solves customer problems, treats customer with dignity and respect. Acknowledges customer and responds quickly to customer needsDemonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to identify and process correct diets and portions for all age groups from pediatrics through elderly adults.Provides assistance with tray assembly as needed.Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.Follow safety policies and procedures.

Environmental and Working Conditions:

This position will be working in the diet office the majority of their shift with periods of time in the kitchen on the patient tray line.Position may also be required to visit patient rooms as necessary to take patient’s meal orders. Uses a computer, tablet, phone, and copier.Candidate must be able to accurately enter meal orders into computer software, must be able to focus in a busy and fast-paced environment. Must also be flexible in order to cooperate and appropriately respond to changes in workload.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or EquivalentJob Knowledge/Experience: Related experience or education demonstrating knowledge of normal and modified diets and the Carbohydrate Counting and Protein Exchange Systems preferred.Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 2 hours).Must be able to sit for long periods of time (up to 6 hours).
