We utilize computer vision and image processing through privacy-respecting machine learning technologies. We aim to deliver an unsurpassed media experience by combining forward-leaning software techniques with the latest innovations in hardware.DescriptionDescriptionWithin the Camera Frameworks org, the Preview team is responsible for the camera preview pipeline — the software stack written in Objective-C that runs the realtime viewfinder in the Camera app. We animate mode transitions, stitch together views from multiple cameras, apply effects such as portrait blur, and deliver processed frames to be rendered on screen — anything related to how a user experiences the camera view. We also maintain a software framework that ties together all aspects of the camera software, working closely with our peer teams that manage streaming raw images from the ISP firmware and generating still image and video products. We maintain a large and complex code base, and we need a troubleshooter who is fearless to dive in and solve challenging problems as they arise. We transport and process large volumes of data on tight timelines, and we need a system architect who understands memory management and is able to analyze and optimize for performance concerns. And, as we bring up new camera features every year, we need a software engineer who can balance delivering on schedule while focusing on the quality and maintainability of our code base.Minimum QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.Proficiency in Objective-C or C/C++.Development and debug experience on realtime embedded mobile platforms.Memory management and multithreaded software development experience.Key QualificationsKey QualificationsPreferred QualificationsPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.Comfort with Unix/Linux/Darwin.Implementation of computer graphics or image processing applications.Familiarity with A/V compression/decompression and media formats.Ownership of API design and maintenance.Experience with realtime media frameworks.Interest and fundamental understanding of photography/videography.Curiosity and passion to solve everyday problems in innovative ways.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Focus on details that are meaningful to customers.Education & ExperienceEducation & ExperienceAdditional RequirementsAdditional RequirementsPay & BenefitsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,900 and $214,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
