Campus Security Manager

SUMMARY

As Campus Security Manager (CSM) you will be tasked with driving operational security excellence in several separate facilities located in a defined area. You will be responsible for all Security Operations. Ensuring constant vigilance from Contract Supervisors, and the contracted guard force, a successful CSM will drive improvements across their area. CSMs will be tasked with leading campus wide projects in all aspects of the DC physical security program. CSMs will assist the Regional Security Manager (RSM) with any other projects or programs as needed, and will assist with the hiring and onboarding of new security personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned

Frontline supervision of security staff and daily security operations

Assume 24/7 availability to respond appropriately to all requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance in a professional manner

Ensures all security systems are fully functional to include Access Control, Visitor Management, Service Now, CCTV.

Creates, assigns and issues facility access badges to authorized personnel

Investigate accidents, thefts, disturbances, discrepancies

Knowledge and familiarization with all emergency response plans and evacuation procedures, which includes conducting fire evacuation drills

Ensure that all security equipment is kept in excellent working condition through regular inspection and by following QTS preventative maintenance programs

Ensure the Security Department is following all proper protocols, including monitoring the cameras, fire alarms, physical patrolling, recognition of items for proper written documentation of all security-related incidents, dispatching, and completing various logs/files on a daily basis.

Conduct training and security briefings for contractor and sub-contractor personnel

Interface with and assist in mobilizing vendors involved in system repairs and new security construction

Develop and maintain working relationships with Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement as well as Fire and EMS

Perform security officer duties as needed to ensure efficient operations and guest service standards are met

Draft reports and prepare presentations on the status of physical security operations

Provides reports as needed for internal and external audits

Verify Data Center security programs are delivered to meet defined corporate security standards

Train, manage and support contract guard service to ensure great customer service in all Security interactions

Serve as a customer advocate by identifying security-related opportunities and crafting innovative solutions that maintain uncompromising security standards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years overseeing security operations and personnel

5+ years Project Management experience

5+ years of experience in security patrolling and reporting

5+ years of experience in working with security vendors and contractors

5+ years of experience leading professional meetings

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent work experience

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to support regional sites

 US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Certification (e.g. CPP, PSP, CSSM)

7+ years of experience leading and managing direct reports.

3+ years of experience in strategic planning and management.

5+ years of experience in access control and video surveillance software applications (e.g. ProWatch and Genetec)

5+ years of experience working in a facility and observing security gaps in physical barriers, security officer procedure, policies, surveillance equipment, and alarm points.

5+ years of experience driving campaigns to reduce nuisance alarms.

3+ years of experience working with workflow ticketing and extraction of performance metrics.

5+ years of experience investigating accidents, thefts, disturbances, discrepancies.

5+ years of experience writing detailed reports.

5+ years of experience with excellent verbal and written communications skills in a professional work setting.

5+ years of overseeing security sub-contractors that provide guards, electronic security systems, door construction, door repair, fencing, and access controls.

3+ years of experience overseeing security construction projects.

Must be able to travel between locations.

3+ years of experience teaching others the proper security processes and methods.

2+ years of experience creating and implementing emergency planning programs and physical security countermeasures

Meets/exceeds QTS’s leadership principles requirements for this role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Proficient with computer skills including Microsoft Office suite

Proficient in Access Control Systems and related software

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; for the purpose of public interaction and report writing. Have excellent customer service skills.

Ability to handle typical emergency and crisis situations efficiently and effectively

Ability to walk, stand or sit for at least eight hours

Position may involve frequent typing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting. Lifting requirements may range from <10 lbs. – 50 lbs. on a regular basis with heavier weights done in conjunction with other individuals or lifting aids

May require 24x7x365 on call responsibilities
