Support Walmart Canada’s store and distribution network strategies by partnering with the Real Estate and other business teams in the negotiation and drafting of commercial leases (stores, distribution centres, warehouses, etc.), store licensee agreements, and purchase and sale transactions across CanadaAdvise on various title, zoning and due diligence mattersSupport planning and development matters, including municipal and expropriation lawResolve commercial disputes, regulatory compliance issues and realty tax appealsIdentify risks and manage potential legal and regulatory issues and partner cross-functionally with the necessary business units to identify and implement appropriate solutionsSupport for cross-functional initiatives such as strategic transactions, facility automation and environmental sustainability related initiativesEducate and train on legal requirements within the business, in partnership with business stakeholdersEffectively manage external counsel across Canada where engagedIdentify and implement efficient ways of working both within and outside the legal department

Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 to 10 years of commercial real estate experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department. LLB or JDPrior experience advising on construction, development and other general commercial contract related matters would be an asset.Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to lead complex transactions and communicate practical legal advice to all levels of the company including senior management, are essential.Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills are important as you will have extensive interaction with various business groups. Ability to communicate in French is an asset.
