Details
Essential Job Duties:
1. Knowledgeable regarding Hospital and departmental policy, procedure, and general information.
2. Demonstrates responsibility for professional growth.
3. Collects required data i.e. pathology, medical history, etc according to American College of Surgeons criteria and enters accurately into computer system.
4. Following established procedures, maintains accurate patient information by contacting appropriate sources such as physician offices, physicians, treatment facilities, and/or patients in order to update information regarding patient diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, condition and follow up.
5. Completes necessary forms and performs follow up documentation on eligible analytic cases according to established procedures and within the time frame required by ACOS Commission on Cancer Standards.
6. Able to generate report for follow up of eligible analytic cases.
7. Knowledgeable of the Impath Cancer Registry computer system and other systems available to Cancer Registry to obtain follow-up information.
8. Able to generate routine statistical reports on diagnosis, mortality rates, treatment effects of demographic variables and the like for use by physicians, hospital personnel, and for submission to state and accrediting agencies as necessary under the supervision of the Cancer Registrar.
9. Assists Cancer Registrar with coordinating meeting dates and locations. Attends Tumor Board conferences and other meetings related to cancer treatment.
10.Maintains logs and record of physician requests for cancer registry information, completion of required studies and related studies.
11.Responsible for complying with American College of Surgeons regulations for Cancer Registry in order to maintain accreditation status.
12.Able to perform case-finding and recognizes which cases are eligible for assignment into the registry system and transfers to Queue for Cancer Registrar review.
13.Demonstrates understanding of Indiana State Department of Health regulations.
Qualifications:
1. Functional grasp of standard written and verbal English, good spelling.
2. Must meet and deal with a variety of people.
3. Flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
4. Previous clerk experience desirable.
5. Proficient in Word and Excel.
6. Knowledgeable of medical terminology
