Cancer Registry Tech

Community Healthcare System is hiring a Cancer Registry Tech for the Cancer Research Team.

Collects, analyzes, and interprets the cancer data in the registry.  Reviews physician TNM staging for correct interpretation of the staging system.  Assembles and disseminates data collected in the Cancer Registry.  Promotes continuing care of the patient with cancer through an active follow-up system by communicating either directly or through correspondence to clinicians or patients.  Utilizes obituaries and Social Security Death Index via the Internet to update patient status.  Coordinates cancer conferences.  Participates in hospital cancer screening and supportive educational programs.  Functions under daily direction of the Regional Cancer Registry Supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Meets at least minimum quality expectations in data abstraction.  Meets at least minimum accuracy expectations in coding topography and morphology using ICD-O classification system.  Meets at least minimum accuracy expectations in reviewing TNM physician staging for any discrepancies.  Meets at least minimum requirements with regard to active patient follow-up.

Meets at least minimum productivity expectations in data abstraction.

Meets at least minimum quality expectations in data abstraction.  Meets at least minimum accuracy expectations in coding topography and morphology using ICD-O classification system.  Meets at least minimum accuracy expectations in reviewing TNM physician staging for any discrepancies.  Meets at least minimum requirements with regard to active patient follow-up.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Eligibility for, or certification as a Registered Health Information Technician, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.  Certified Tumor Registrar is preferred. Non-Certified Tumor Registrars must successfully pass the national accreditation examination. Should have knowledge of patient care methodology, including data collection, interpretation, and display techniques.  Must have extensive knowledge of personal computer applications.
