POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chief Administrative Officer for the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine is responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing all administrative aspects of the department’s clinical, research, and education activities. From a clinical perspective, this role has oversight for the operations and finances within multiple legal entities within JHHS, including:

The Johns Hopkins Hospital: OR, ICU, acute and chronic pain services, Adult Respiratory Therapy Johns Hopkins Bayview: OR, ICU, acute and chronic pain services Howard County General Hospital: OR, acute and chronic pain services Sibley and Suburban Hospitals: Acute and chronic pain services Johns Hopkins Surgery Center Series: 2 Ambulatory Surgery Centers including Twin Knolls, Green Spring Pavilion III, White Marsh Unregulated Clinic Locations: GSS, WM, Howard County (Charter Building), Bethesda Rockledge Other: Pediatric Chronic Pain Services at KKI

From a research perspective, this role manages a grants and contracts portfolio of over $15 million. The department publishes over 250+ scholarly manuscripts per year and is among the top academic departments for research funding and scholarly output, as measured by the Blue Ridge Institute Rankings (#4).
From an education perspective, this role oversees an education portfolio of over 80 Residents and 45 fellows, as well as numerous medical students, student CRNAs, PA Residents, and Anesthesia Technologist students.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The position reports to the department Director, CFO, SOM, and the COO, JHH.
Together, this portfolio presents a total expense budget of $203M. ACCM has nearly 1,000 FTEs, of which ~260 are faculty/clinical associates. This position manages the support functions of the tripartite mission, including HR, credentialing, finance, billing and compliance, IT, supplies, and equipment. This position has the following direct reports including:

Assistant Administrator

Associate Administrator

Administrator Bayview

Assistant Administrator, Finance

JHU HR manager

IT manager

Sr. Administrative Manager, Profee Billing

Administrative Director, Supplies and Equipment

Director of Respiratory Therapy

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Advanced degree in business, health care administration, or related field, Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in perioperative and surgical services is highly desirable Previous experience in an academic medical center is required. Knowledge of hospital and university finance and administration preferred Knowledge of administering a physician practice plan is preferred Knowledge of managed care Knowledge of the Maryland reimbursement system is desirable Demonstrated team building and management skills Excellent interpersonal skills Demonstrated leadership qualities Strong financial and analytic skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Theory and application of work process improvement tools, including safe and efficient clinical practice and service excellence Marketing skills

Salary Range: Minimum 0.00 per hour - Maximum 0.00 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
