The team has a global coverage strategy across North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia. Through our client-centric approach we support our clients through a variety of transactions including, but not limited to, M&A (buy-side and sell-side), equity and debt capital financings, construction and term financings, tax equity, strategic advisory / alternatives mandates, capital structure advisory, and public-private partnerships. The team also delivers complex risk and hedging solutions to clients. Through such transactions, our specialized global platform and subject matter expertise enables us to help our clients meet their goals, including net zero and climate goals. The EIT team manages a market leading platform from our offices in Toronto, New York, Houston, Calgary, London and Bogota. The team’s coverage mandate includes renewables (solar, wind, hydro, biomass, storage), conventional power (e.g. gas-fired generation), utility and utility infrastructure (regulated utilities, district energy), energy transition technology (hydrogen, CCUS, biofuels, climate technology), infrastructure (airports, roads, ports, rail and logistics, digital), midstream and upstream oil and gas. **How You’ll Succeed** Analysts on the EIT team will work with Managing Directors, Executive Directors, Directors and Associates and be expected to provide a broad range of analytical, research and presentation preparation support to all the professionals within the group. The Analyst will provide financial modeling, analytical, structuring, research and transaction support and will assist with the execution of transactions and advisory projects such as mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financings, and capital structure and strategic advisory projects, and must have strong prioritization and multi-tasking capabilities. You will also be expected to maintain an awareness of our clients, industry, regulatory issues and relevant economic/political trends. Applying your strengths in quantitative analysis to create and direct complex financial analysis and models while extracting the “big picture” implications of such analysis will be critical to your success. As part of the EIT deal team, you will gain exposure to working with individuals from various groups across the firm, globally. A team approach to executing coverage, M&A advisory and financing assignments is designed to provide progressive on the job training. **What You’ll Be Doing** + Assist in executing all facets of the group’s mandates + Conduct industry research and analysis + Play a key role in the preparation of client proposals, “pitchbooks” and the execution of new and existing client mandates: + Develop sophisticated financial models with complex valuation methodologies + Participate in cross functional teams and liaising with other units of CIBC Capital Markets in executing mandates or preparing proposals for clients + Prepare industry and financial analysis to assist with the development of client recommendations + Lead industry comparable value and transaction precedent analyses + Assist in company due diligence investigations + Take advantage of in depth technical and industry knowledge, as well as the geopolitical environment to generate transaction ideas/opportunities that can be discussed with the relevant relationship manager and deal/coverage teams **Who You Are** + Strong academic record with Bachelor’s degree, equivalent or above required + 1-3 years investment banking (or similar) experience (experience across Energy, Infrastructure and Energy Transition industries preferred) + Strong financial modelling skills and experience of building/maintaining operating models required + Experience with various financial valuation techniques and strong knowledge of DCF, LBO, merger modeling, comparable companies, precedent transactions etc. required + Experience in preparing and maintaining industry/company presentations and benchmarking materials + Strong team-focused approach and demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team + Excellent communication and presentation skills + Solid work ethic, motivation level, proactive and strong attention to detail + Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities + Capacity to interact and build relationships with a wide range of people + **Values matter to you.** You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork, and accountability. This role has an expected salary range of USD$115,000-135,000 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
