About the teamThe Capital Markets Trading Associate is a junior level Mortgage Trader that may reside onsite or remote. The role requires mortgage pipeline analysis and hedging activities to reduce exposure to interest rate risk. The role will also include warehouse reporting, secondary market loan sales, daily reporting, margin management; as well as collaboration with mortgage pricing, transaction management, accounting, and treasury. Candidate will work within the parameters set forth by Zillow Home Loans Interest Rate Risk Management Policy. This role will work primarily during east coast trading hours of 8am – 5pm.

About the role

Hedging activities include pipeline analysis and trading.

Mortgage trading  for hedging pipeline risk.

Monitor moving markets and transact efficiently.

Understand counterparty risk and maintain current exposure to counterparties.

Responsible for producing live pipeline reporting 

Apply best execution strategies when selling mortgage loans and hedging activities.  This includes specific knowledge of best efforts, mandatory loan sales, FNMA FHLMC and GNMA MBS loan pooling and sales; servicing released and servicing retained pricing.

Make recommendations for assumptions that guide our modeling and decision-making including prepayment speeds and durations.

Additional duties as assigned

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $74,700.00 - $119,300.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent mortgage, finance, or accounting experience

2-5 years’ of experience in mortgage pipeline management

Proficient knowledge of hedging instruments UMBS and GNMA securities

Proficient in mortgage loan management systems such as Encompass

Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Powerpoint

Proficient in reporting tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or SQ

Prior experience with  interest rate modeling vendors such as MIAC Analytics/ Compass/ QRM etc.

Preferred knowledge of Tradeweb platform

Preferred knowledge of Bloomberg Anywhere
