POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineering Department has an opening for a Capital Projects Engineering Supervisor located in Catlettsburg, KY. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager and be require to provide supervision and development for a team of mechanical, civil, electrical and/or instrumentation engineers who are supporting project development/implementation of our larger projects (generally >$25MM). The successful candidate must have the ability to stimulate the development of communication and interpersonal skills of personnel so that appropriate work relationships can be developed with customers, contractors, and other work associates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Supervises the development, management, and completion of a wide range of engineering and construction projects.
+ Applies an advanced level of project management and technical engineering knowledge and experience to monitor and ensure that projects are completed in a timely, cost-effective, and quality-controlled manner and in compliance with RSP-1903-000 Large Project Execution Requirements.
+ Ensures project objectives and scope align with the business objectives of the project throughout the project life cycle.
+ Directs and monitors personnel involved in the analysis, design, and construction management of assigned projects.
+ Ensures designs/solutions include current engineering and construction technology; satisfy specifications and standards; maximize operations efficiency, quality, flexibility, safety, scheduling, and reliability, while minimizing costs.
+ Strategically distributes workloads amongst the engineering department, their team and engineering contractors; ensures that projects are completed within the intended budget year and/or to support the budgeting process.
+ Maintains assigned workloads in a flexible environment to meet the changing needs of the Refinery.
+ Oversees / validates selection of engineering contractors to meet objectives. Provides leadership to and develops engineers for success through coaching, training plans and work validation.
+ Cultivates innovation to allow for the efficient completion of project assignments.
+ Tracks and monitors project status and drives timely reporting of project schedules, financial status, and project viability with the stakeholders including Engineering, Maintenance and Refining Management; Refining Asset Development; and RPM personnel.
+ Supports budgeting process by ensuring all projects are developed to meet budgeting deadlines and data is accurate and timely.
+ Develops a teamwork approach to providing services interfacing with Operations, Product Controls, Supply Chain, Tech Service, Maintenance, and HES.
+ Collaborates with the Process Optimization Group on upcoming projects and ensures engineers are engaging and supporting the needs of their stakeholders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering or related field is required.
+ Minimum 10 years of refining, chemical or petrochemical industry experience is required.
+ Strong mechanical and/or electrical/instrumentation aptitude, communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
+ Project and Budget Management Experience required.
+ Prior supervisory and/or leadership experience preferred.
+ Must be willing/able for occasional travel to engineering contractor’s offices.
