Capital Risk Management LATAM Coverage – VP

In this role you will be exposed to the entire firm’s balance sheet and capital, giving you an opportunity to build the understanding of how the firm operates. You will be driving independent assessment, measuring, monitoring, and controlling capital risk across the firm. You will act as a key member of a dynamic team which ensures that the firm maintains an adequate level and composition of capital to support its business activities and associated risks, both in normal economic conditions and during periods of stress. 

You will be juggling multiple responsibilities demonstrating your knowledge of capital and understanding of the implications of the requirements variability across the products and regions. As the second line of defense, your expertise and dedication will be key in maintaining a strong internal control framework and earning our stakeholders' trust, allowing us to keep delivering effective solutions that drive the success and growth of the business. The role will be focusing on LATAM coverage but you will be plugged in the firm capital discussions and decisions. 

 

Job responsibilities

Lead the charge on independent evaluation of the firm's capital management activities in LATAM, including the assessment of internal minimum capital targets, post-stress internal minimums, and capital allocation results across the firm and key legal entities.  Extract insights on capital by performing thorough analysis of the capital and risk-weighted assets metrics for the firm as well as key legal entities and create impactful presentations for the senior management to empower decision making. Proactively monitor capital metrics against established risk limits and indicators, and promptly escalate any breaches, applying critical thinking skills to suggest potential actions. Participate in the scenario analysis and stress-testing exercise, analyzing the potential impacts on the firm's Capital. Conduct in-depth analyses on factors affecting the firm's capital, such as changes in regulatory requirements, firm risk profiles, balance sheet, and market dynamics, and present findings to senior management. Use analytical and statistical techniques to enhance the monitoring of risk-based and leverage-based capital metrics. Collaborate seamlessly with members of capital management, capital planning and analysis (P&A), controllers, and various support functions leveraging the vast expertise of the different teams within firm. Embrace a culture of innovation and experimentation, constantly exploring ways to improve current processes and suggest ideas. 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

We are keen to hear from candidates who have prior risk management experience. More importantly, we are looking for someone who is intellectually curious with as many of the following on their CV:  

A minimum of 6 years of experience in capital, liquidity, credit and/or market risk. Background in other areas of Risk, Treasury or Finance will be considered. Knowledge of financial markets and various asset classes. Understanding of balance sheet and income statement. A track record of successfully managing and guiding teams. Highly adaptable, thriving in an environment where things change quickly and where innovative approaches and experiments are required. Lateral thinker with a commitment to getting things done and good problem-solving skills. Good partnership and communication skills, including credibility & ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.  Strong academic background with a minimum bachelor’s degree.
