Overview & Responsibilities:

 

Captain Level I

 

This position is responsible for performing cockpit duties to ensure the safe execution of all company aircraft flights. This position reports to the Chief Pilot.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

Maintains the highest possible level of safety and professionalism during all flight operations, including preflight, inflight and postflight operations. Ensures that the aircraft is in airworthy condition and that all required emergency equipment is current and onboard the aircraft. Ensures all navigational materials are complete, current, and appropriate for each trip. Maintains and accurately completes all appropriate trip paperwork, including flight planning, weather acquisition, flight logs, aircraft discrepancy entries and monthly activity reports. Familiarizes oneself with all weather, NOTAMS, navigational facilities, communication procedures, airport runway lengths, airport visual aids, terrain and obstruction minimum safe altitudes and terminal area arrival and departure procedures. Responsible for being appraised of regulations governing flight operations. This includes domestic regulations, International regulations, customs regulations, immigration, and agricultural regulations. Communicates promptly with the Executive Director of Aircraft Logistics, the Vice President of Flight Crews and/or the Chief Pilot, with trip changes or necessary information concerning a flight. Confirms passenger ground transportation arrangements or any special handling required. Ensures crew hotel accommodations have been arranged through dispatch or proper handling agent(s). Ensures all certificates, licenses, clearances, permits, and any other required documents are current and on board the aircraft. Assures correct capacity and loading of the assigned aircraft. Assumes “on-the-job training” functions for other crewmembers as required. Delegates functions to other crew members as necessary but retains overall responsibility. Ensures that all airports shall be of sufficient size and in proper condition to permit takeoffs and landing within the aircraft load capabilities as set forth in the aircraft flight manual. Operates aircraft in accordance with aircraft flight manuals, checklists, and appropriate minimum equipment lists. Assists in maintaining current charts, manuals, and appropriate computer software. Performs additional duties as required by the Vice President of Flight Crews and Chief Pilot.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

Aircraft specific, FAA certified training curriculum at a recognized institution is required. Must have working knowledge of aircraft systems, how they operate, and procedures used in emergency situations in the event of a system malfunction. Ability to demonstrate understanding of regulations and basic computer skills.

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

A minimum of 5 years working experience in aircraft operation is preferred. This position requires the following flight hours to qualify for the company type aircraft. 4,000 hours total time. 3,000 hours pilot in command on multi-engine aircraft. 1,500 hours multi-engine jet time.

 

License or Certificates:

 

FAA type-rating certificate for the aircraft to be operated. FAA first-class medical certificate.
