About the Role

The Software Program Manager is responsible for the SW development lifecycle in the planning, development, launch, and closure phases of a program.  The SW PM will be the primary technical interface for SW development between the customer internal stakeholders.  The responsibility includes planning the product development and testing, actively managing the gating SW deliverables, and reporting status against the plan.  This role will report to the Sr. Director, SW Only Project Engineering, Car Audio SBU.

Your Team

This position has no direct reports. The role works closely with other team members, including Solution Management, SW Program Managers, Software Project Leads, Acoustic Engineers, and Customer Program Managers to drive successful project delivery to meet timing, cost, and quality.

What You Will Do

Build and manage customer relationships at a working team level (Customer Program Release Engineers)Make decisions regarding software build content and timing (Performance and Features), translate it into engineering level plan, this includes identifying dependencies and road blockers.Gate the Software Development Release lifecycle to ensure customer acceptance of each release to ensure product acceptance for launchManage program risk proactively, identify program risks and coordinate meetings with the PM and multi-discipline functions to address risks before they become issuesEvaluate project management processes and metrics to track and measure project success (Manage all product delivery elements)Represent the program Internally to Sr. Management during program, quality and operations reviews.Lead the program adherence to follow standard Harman processes and maintain program and customer-related documentationBe the primary escalation point for both internal and external project software communications for the dedicated customer projectResolve conflicts between internal and customer engineering groups.Will be involved in multiple software development lifecycles. Be able to manage multiple programs from requirements to delivery.Be able to solve complex design issues and take calculated risks.

What You Need

Ph.D. degree in Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in corporate or academic research; alternatively, Master’s Degree in above-mentioned fields and 8 years of experience in research and development or Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years’ experience10-15 years of systems engineering, requirements management, or related backgroundProven technical leadership within the technology industry or automotive industryMust be able to articulate vision and influence decision making outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and the customerExperience managing external and internal vendors/partnersStrong communication skills (written & spoken) to explain technology concepts to non-technical audiencesHigh-quality mindset to develop software with best industry practicesPassion for Audio quality and performance

What is Nice to Have

Practical experience in related areas such as system design, hardware/software design, and real-time embedded applicationsPrevious experience in all phases of the software development process (Requirements, Scope, Design/Plan, Develop, Test, and Customer Acceptance.)
