Registered Nurse (RN) - Hospital and Outpatient Procedural Specialties (HOPS)

Mercy Hospital’s Emergency Chest Pain Center (ECPC) provides a fully functional cardiac catheterization lab just steps away from the Emergency Department. This team can stop heart attacks in record time and works closely with paramedics to prepare for patient arrival. When heart attack patients are brought to the ECPC, they are admitted directly to the emergency department catheterization lab for the procedure to begin.  


A caregiver in this position works either 7:30AM – 6:00PM or 8:00AM – 6:30PM.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in a variety of healthcare settings.  

Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.  

Perform telephone triage and call rotations.  

Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications. 

Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.  

Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.  

Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.  

Educate patients and families.  

Cover other nursing roles in the department.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.  

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).  

One year of recent experience as an RN.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Two years of recent experience as an RN.  

Cardiac and critical care background.
