Position Summary: The Cath Lab Tech (Non-RCIS) assures equipment is functioning properly, produces and evaluates data, information and images used by the physician in the performance of the designated patient procedure. Assists team members in all aspects of patient care, monitoring patient’s vital signs, interpreting status information and performing functions in one or more of the following: monitoring procedures, assisting with patient preparation/recovery, transporting patients to/from department. Also assists with educating patients, family members and cath team as well as stocks / reorders inventory items and generally assists with other duties as assigned while exhibiting exemplary customer service core values.

Qualifications

Must be within a 45-minute drive from Tidelands Health Hospital for On Call requirements.

Experience:

-Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech (including clinical time) required. 

-Prior Experience with physiological monitoring systems required.

-Prior experience with Sterile scrub technique, interventional and diagnostic heart catheterizations and pacemaker/ICD implantations required.

 

Education: (must meet one of the following 3 educational requirements):

Graduate of a program of study leading to credentials as RN, RRT, RT(R), RVT, Paramedic/EMT with current national registry in applicable discipline, and eligible for certification as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International AND certification by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) application under “invasive specialist”.

 OR

Graduate of a program of Cardiovascular Technology and RCIS eligible.

 

OR

If certified and/or qualified Navy Corpsman/Army/Air Force Medic, the above educational requirement may be waived if applicant is eligible for RCIS credential status based on the requirements set forth by CCI.

 Licensure/Certification/registrations:

-American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date.  BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.

 

Special Skills:

-  Ability to work efficiently, responsibly, and in a team – oriented atmosphere with multiple work demands required.

-  Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations that arise in high-risk procedures required.

- Flexibility with work schedule required to work overtime or over shift with little or no notice due to patient case demands.

-  Ability to manage a sometimes-chaotic work environment related to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic and complex disease processes.

 

Physical Requirements: Light-Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
