The Cardiac Device Specialist (CDS) provides technical, clinical, and related services in the area of Electrophysiology and Cardiology relative to Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED’s) in the ambulatory setting. The candidate must demonstrate global cardiac device knowledge to Physician(s) and have the capacity to communicate various cardiac device applications to patients in coherent manner. Additionally, the CDS will assist the physicians9S0 with Hospital based consults and rounds. Incumbent is responsible for providing nursing care, administering medications and documenting care in the patient’s medical record under the direction of the medical provider. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the clinic/hospital.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must possess the ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot various CIED programmers and be proficient in deciphering complex Cardiac Device data elements.In collaboration with the Electrophysiologist and Cardiology team, this role serves to provide quality patient care for accurate CIED management, arrhythmia interpretation, and device utilization for noninvasive arrhythmia termination protocols.Management and interpretation of CIED remote data and comprehensive knowledge of the necessary navigation of remote sites is required.Meet daily with each physician to review list of patients for possible discharge.Assist physician with patient consults by obtaining information from patient and patient records to assist with formation of plan of care.Make rounds with or under direct supervision of the physician.Conveys physician’s instructions to patient regarding the following: diets, medication, and education of patient concerning their disease entity.May accept verbal orders from the physician, recording and then reading back to the physician for confirmation.Works with other disciplines to coordinate patient care and help identify and utilize clinical and financial resources to help facilitate patient care across the continuum.Identifies records and reports any change in patient condition or adverse reaction to treatment and/or medication to the physician.Must function in a highly specialized and unique area which requires a high level of clinical acumen and independence.Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Minimum LPN License with experience in cardiac care. ASN preferred.Graduation from a recognized institution of Cardiac Device Technology and Cardiac Electrophysiology is preferred.LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Education requirements as stated above.BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period and certification must be kept current while in this position.Certification by a nationally recognized association such as IBHRE is preferred.EXPERIENCE:
Proficiency in the ability to demonstrate skills according to current system policies and procedures.2-3 years full-time direct work experience or appropriate qualifications and experience in aligned training with demonstrated proficiency.Skill and proficiency in area of chart review for appropriate utilization or resources and quality of care issues.Prefer but not required, candidate with physician extender experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Skill and proficiency in the technical field or a registered nurse as normally acquired through completion of a vocation school/college of RN program.Must be proficient in computerized documentation.Competent in rhythm interpretation.NONDISCRIMINATION NOTICE STATEMENT
