Cardiac Rehab Specialist
POSITION PURPOSE The Cardiac Rehab Specialist develops and executes a safe and appropriate plan of exercise therapy for clients utilizing skills and education specific to the field of exercise. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED Bachelors Degree in: Exercise Physiology or related field MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 1 to 3 years LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire. Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire. American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist certification preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED One to two (1-2) years of previous experience in cardiac rehabilitation preferred. Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Instructing, monitoring and supervising exercise of Phase I, II, and II cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation patients. Instructing and leading floor exercises, warm-up exercises and cool-down exercises, as well as instructing patients in use of aerobic exercise equipment and weight training equipment. Writing patient daily/ monthly progress notes and other necessary documentation. Review patient’s progress at weekly staff meetings and hand-off communication. Orientating new patients. Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department. Educating patients about risk factor modification.
