Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. POSITION SUMMARY: Cardiac Sonographer II follows established policies, procedures, and performs and records Echocardiology diagnostic tests. Obtains information about normal and abnormal anatomy used to diagnosis disease. Ensures echo exams are of acceptable quality and records results. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served on their assigned units. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Registration as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and certification in (1) one patient population. - Requires BLS certification - Required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s). This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served. - Requires a professional level of knowledge of echocardiology techniques and must be able to independently perform diagnostic echocardiograms procedures. At least one year training in echocardiology specific to a patient population. - Communicates effectively with patients when allaying fears and eliciting cooperation, and to relay patient information to physicians and nursing personnel. Requires analytical ability to recognize anatomic abnormalities, adjust equipment settings to appropriately target the ultrasound and identify irregularities during course of ultrasound and notify appropriate personnel.
